"Nanjing 1937" is a visual narrative project centered on the Nanjing Massacre, integrating the compositional style and storytelling structure of the Southern Song Dynasty scroll Searching the Mountains (Sou Shan Tu). Through the medium of fashion illustration, the project reconstructs wartime figures and scenes, blending historical research with contemporary visual language. By combining traditional landscape aesthetics with modern fashion imagery, the work explores the tension between invasion and resistance, suffering and dignity—offering a reflective lens on history and collective memory through a contemporary artistic perspective.
